Wood is a natural material that continues to respond to changes in temperature and humidity throughout its life. Even expertly crafted cabinetry can experience small amounts of movement as the wood and wood-based components adjust to their environment.
Because our finishes are designed to create a hard, durable protective surface, fine hairline lines may occasionally become visible at joints, seams, or areas where different components meet. Minor changes like these are a natural characteristic of finished wood cabinetry and do not necessarily indicate a defect in the workmanship or finish.
Conversion varnish and 2K polyurethane are both professional, high-performance finishing systems. 2K polyurethane offers an additional level of resistance to impact, abrasion, moisture, and chemical exposure, but no finish can completely prevent natural wood movement or eliminate the possibility of a finish line developing as the underlying materials move.
Stable indoor humidity, and normal care all help minimize these effects and keep your cabinetry looking beautiful for years to come.
Our goal is not only to build exceptional cabinetry, but to help our clients understand how a natural wood product will perform in the environment of their home.
